A wood-fired sauna by the lake

The Clevedon sauna is one of our traditional wood-fired barrels, with a window looking out over the water. We keep our saunas between 75 and 100 degrees, with löyly (steam) from water poured onto the hot stones. A sauna host is on site for every session to keep the fire going and welcome you in.

The sauna has a capacity of 18 people per hour, so sessions are shared unless you book a private hire.

Sauna and cold water at Clevedon Marine Lake

Clevedon Marine Lake is a free, tidal saltwater lake used year-round by swimmers and dippers, and it sits right beside us. Most people alternate between the heat of the sauna and a dip in the lake, then back again. There are no cold plunges at Clevedon — the lake is the cold water.

Swim within your limits and at your own risk; the lake is open water and not lifeguarded by us.

What to expect on your visit

• Sessions are 60 minutes, with 30-minute sessions on weekdays.
• Arrive 5 minutes early so you have time to change and get a short introduction from your host.
• Bring swimwear, two towels (one to sit on, one to dry off), a water bottle, and flip-flops or sandals if you like.
• Swimwear is worn — we don't run clothing-optional sessions here.
• Ages 8 and above are welcome. Everyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Well-behaved dogs are welcome, kept securely tied and not loose.

• No shower on site. There is a cold public shower at the far end of Marine Lake, on the upper promenade above the children's splash pool (near the Community Boat Store).
• No cold plunges at this site — swimmers use the lake.

Getting here and parking

You'll find us beside Clevedon Marine Lake, next to the Salthouse Bar and Restaurant.

• A paid car park sits directly next to us.
• An additional council-run paid car park is nearby.
• Some free on-street parking is available further away.
• Bike racks are on site, next to The Salthouse Pub.

Booking Clevedon

Sessions are booked online. We also welcome drop-ins — you can book in person and pay by cash or card. You can also book the whole sauna, or half of it at Clevedon, for a private group.
